This is a wonderful program in which American Optometric Association member doctors are pleased to participate. The InfantSEE program doctors provide an exam, free of charge, to infants between six and twelve months. During the exam our doctors will assess your baby's visual system and its development. Allowing our doctors to see if a baby is at risk for any eye or vision disorders. It is estimated the 10% of babies have some kind of vision or eye disorder that would otherwise go undiagnosed. February is Valentines Month, and we should focus on the state of our hearts in two senses of the word! Certainly our cardiovascular health is extrememely important in determining our longevity, and how many Valentine Days we are fortunate enough to celebrate.
In our practice we pay particular attention to cardiovascular health. We will be examining the blood flow in the small vessels of the retina, call the arterioles. The Optos laser scanner, allows this examination process. The scans reveal even very small changes in the narrowing of arteries, blood leakages and other changes that may be a result of diabetes, high blood pressure, hypercholesterolemia, or other cardiovascular systemic disease. Most importantly, we compare each scan chronologically to make comparisons.
Please look at these two photos of an actual patient. the left one indicates significant arteriolar blockage.The right scan shows what occurred by not following a recommendation for a cardiologist consult immediately. Our consulation and immediate referral for carotid artery surgery prevented an impending stroke.

We are currently involved in a FDA contact lens solution study. This study investigates the effectiveness, safety and efficacy of new contact lens care systems for existing soft contact lens designs. The FDA has designated 25 different clinical test sites around the country for this particular study. We are pleased to be involved in this investigation.
Our patients have lenses provided at no charge and are also compensated for their time for each visit.
Registration for this study is closed but future studies will necessitate new study volunteers. Please ask us about ongoing research studies.
This study has been concluded and clinical results will be published nationally.
